Fertility Treatment for Regional & Rural Patients
At Adora, we believe that no matter where you live you should be able to access affordable, high-quality fertility treatments. We offer options that mean patients are generally only required to attend an Adora clinic for egg collection and embryo transfer procedures. We are committed to complete transparency around the costs and process for IVF, so you can make an informed decision for your situation.
Fertility Advisor Chats
- If you have questions about whether fertility treatment is right for you, the costs associated, or the process, our friendly and knowledgeable Fertility Advisors are here to help. Book your free 15-minute chat here.
Fertility Assessment
Prior to treatment you (and your partner if applicable), will need to have an appointment with a GP to undertake a Fertility Assessment. Adora provides several options to make this as convenient as possible;
GP appointment
- Telehealth with an Adora GP – This is not covered by Medicare, so a small fee will apply.
- An appointment with your local GP – If you’d prefer to see your existing GP, we can advise on the tests they’ll need to order.
- InstantScripts – If you can’t visit a GP in person, we recommend InstantScripts. For a fee of $49, they will provide what you need to get started with one of our Fertility Specialists. You can book a GP appointment online via InstantScripts by clicking here for male patients and clicking here for female patients.
Completing required tests
- Local Pathology clinic – You can attend a local pathology clinic to undergo the prescribed tests, and results will be sent directly to Adora.
- Sapyen – Adora Fertility has partnered with Sapyen, whose test kit offers convenient and discreet home semen analysis. Tests cost $149 and can be ordered here. A small Medicare rebate applies.
Meeting your fertility specialist
- Enjoy quality fertility care with your choice of fertility specialist from the comfort of your home. Your initial appointment will be via Telehealth, as will your follow-up appointments. This is covered by Medicare.
Blood tests, scans, and medications
- We will provide you with prescriptions to collect your medications from a pharmacy that is convenient for you.
- Blood tests and scans can be completed at your closest provider, with results sent to your fertility specialist for review.
Egg collection & Embryo transfer
- You will need to travel to an Adora Day Surgery for your egg collection procedure. At Adora, egg collections are performed under a light general anaesthetic. The procedure takes approximately 10-20 minutes, but you will need to take the rest of the day to rest and recover.
- You should not drive a car within 24 hours of your procedure, and you will need to remain within one hour travelling time of appropriate medical attention in the 24-hour post-discharge period.
- If you have a fresh transfer, this typically takes place five days after egg collection and fertilisation.
- Future embryo transfers from frozen embryos only require one day attendance at an Adora Day Surgery, and you can resume most normal activities afterwards.
Patient assisted travel schemes
- These government run schemes vary by state and are designed to help offset the cost of travelling to access healthcare for people in rural, regional, and remote Australia. Adora Fertility is not affiliated with these schemes, but we recommend looking into them to see if they are appropriate for your situation.
